The J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Women and Infants Pavilion at St. Vincent’s Medical Center Clay County held its blessing and dedication on August 11, 2016. This was St. Vincent’s latest expansion project, featuring a state-of-the-art facility offering Clay County residents the opportunity to expand their families closer to home.
The Family Birth Place features eight massive delivery and post-partum rooms, four ante-partum rooms for C-section recoveries, three triage bays, and two expansive operating rooms. Each delivery and post-partum room is private and has access to a private bath. In each of those rooms, you’ll find that patient comfort is a top priority.
While the newborn snoozes in their comfy nursery, mothers can recover in their cushy patient bed. The new parents can even treat themselves to a hearty in-room celebratory dinner like steak and lobster thanks to the Family Birth Place’s tasty gourmet menu. Several other gift items are available through the onsite concierge services, like a plush keepsake robe, a St. Vincent’s onesie, and a luxury linen package for patients’ rooms.
In addition to physical comforts, St. Vincent’s Clay County’s Family Birth Place also provides ample peace of mind thanks to a range of thorough security measures. All rooms feature fetal monitoring systems that feed directly to the nursing stations. And as part of the HUGS security program, each infant gets a registered band that will beep if it approaches an exit. These bands stay with the babies until discharge.
Before deciding where to deliver their baby, mothers-to-be can sign up to tour the facility and take part in childbirth education classes. They can even pre-register online, allowing them to fill out necessary paperwork before even stepping foot in the Family Birth Place.
Above all else, St. Vincent’s Clay County’s Family Birth Place hopes to cater to every need of its patients. “We really want to elevate the level of care we provide our mothers-to-be,” said Priscilla Lagmay, Nursing Manager at the Family Birth Place. “Our goal is to make the entire process, from labor and delivery to recovery, effortless for the mother. We’re excited to start growing families within our community.” To learn more and register for a tour, visitwww.jaxhealth.com/baby.
